Obamacare murders patient choice regardless of name they use

The month of August 2009 is a critical one to the American people.
Regardless of Pelosi or Obamas rhetoric about who the villain is in stopping them, the American people need to step up our opposition while the legislators grace us with their presence!
Regardless of the name they apply to their “plan” it is going to mean economic disaster and long term misery  to Americans.

I have reprinted Senator Demint’s email below from the Senate Conservative Fund

Co-ops = Public Option = Single Payer

Knowing that Americans would reject the idea of a “single payer” government health care system, Democrats began calling their plan a “public option.” Now that Americans have rejected that idea too, Democrats are peddling another proposal called health care “cooperatives.”

Unfortunately, these federally-backed co-ops are nothing more than a public option by another name. Washington will set up and subsidize them so private health plans are squeezed out of the marketplace. Then, like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the costs will catch up with these government-sponsored entities and Congress will tell us they are “too big to fail” and must be nationalized.

Some Democrats are willing to admit that co-ops are the same as a public option. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said earlier this month that, “We’re going to have some type of public option, call it ‘co-op,’ call it what you want.”

Some Democrats are also willing to admit that the public option is the same as a single payer system. Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) said this week that, “I think if we get a good public option it could lead to single payer, and that’s the best way to reach single payer.”

It’s becoming clear that no matter what name Democrats put on it, all of their ideas lead to a government takeover of our health care.

The latest government bailout

This week, the Senate moved beyond bailing out industries that it has driven into the ground to bailing out its own programs that it has failed to manage.

Proving once again that the federal government is incapable of managing the federal highway system, the Senate passed $7 billion to shore up the failing program. The bill also provides $7.5 billion to bail out the failing unemployment insurance program and $185 billion to bail out several government-managed home-ownership programs.

Only 17 Republicans had the courage to vote against this rip-off. Click here to see how your Senators voted.

Question: If the government cannot manage these programs, what makes anyone think it can manage our health care?

Just a few reasons to despise Obamacare proposal!

Alan Caruba highlights just some of the provisions of Obamacare

Page after Page of Reasons to Hate Obamacare

Here are just a few very good reasons to hate Obamacare:

• Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!
• Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!
• Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)
• Page 42: The “Health Choices Commissioner” will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None.
• Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.
• Page 58: Every person will be issued a National ID Healthcard.
• Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer.
• Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community organizer health plans (read: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)
• Page 72: All private healthcare plans must conform to government rules to participate in a Healthcare Exchange.
• Page 84: All private healthcare plans must participate in the Healthcare Exchange (i.e., total government control of private plans)
• Page 91: Government mandates linguistic infrastructure for services; translation: illegal aliens
• Page 95: The Government will pay ACORN and Americorps to sign up individuals for Government-run Health Care plan.
• Page 102: Those eligible for Medicaid will be automatically enrolled: you have no choice in the matter.
• Page 124: No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No “judicial review” is permitted against the government monopoly. Put simply, private insurers will be crushed.
• Page 127: The AMA sold doctors out: the government will set wages.
• Page 145: An employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run public plan. No alternatives.
• Page 126: Employers MUST pay healthcare bills for part-time employees AND their families.
• Page 149: Any employer with a payroll of $400K or more, who does not offer the public option, pays an 8% tax on payroll
• Page 150: Any employer with a payroll of $250K-400K or more, who does not offer the public option, pays a 2 to 6% tax on payroll
• Page 167: Any individual who doesnt’ have acceptable healthcare (according to the government) will be taxed 2.5% of income.
• Page 170: Any NON-RESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes (Americans will pay for them).
• Page 195: Officers and employees of Government Healthcare Bureaucracy will have access to ALL American financial and personal records.
• Page 203: “The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax.” Yes, it really says that.• Page 239: Bill will reduce physician services for Medicaid. Seniors and the poor most affected.”
• Page 241: Doctors: no matter what speciality you have, you’ll all be paid the same (thanks, AMA!)
• Page 253: Government sets value of doctors’ time, their professional judgment, etc.
• Page 265: Government mandates and controls productivity for private healthcare industries.
• Page 268: Government regulates rental and purchase of power-driven wheelchairs.
• Page 272: Cancer patients: welcome to the wonderful world of rationing!
• Page 280: Hospitals will be penalized for what the government deems preventable re-admissions.
• Page 298: Doctors: if you treat a patient during an initial admission that results in a readmission, you will be penalized by the government.
• Page 317: Doctors: you are now prohibited for owning and investing in healthcare companies!
• Page 318: Prohibition on hospital expansion. Hospitals cannot expand without government approval.
• Page 321: Hospital expansion hinges on “community” input: in other words, yet another payoff for ACORN.
• Page 335: Government mandates establishment of outcome-based measures: i.e., rationing.
• Page 341: Government has authority to disqualify Medicare Advantage Plans, HMOs, etc.
• Page 354: Government will restrict enrollment of SPECIAL NEEDS individuals.
• Page 379: More bureaucracy: Telehealth Advisory Committee (healthcare by phone).
• Page 425: More bureaucracy: Advance Care Planning Consult: Senior Citizens, assisted suicide, euthanasia?
• Page 425: Government will instruct and consult regarding living wills, durable powers of attorney, etc. Mandatory. Appears to lock in estate taxes ahead of time.
• Page 425: Government provides approved list of end-of-life resources, guiding you in death.
• Page 427: Government mandates program that orders end-of-life treatment; government dictates how your life ends.
• Page 429: Advance Care Planning Consult will be used to dictate treatment as patient’s health deteriorates. This can include an ORDER for end-of-life plans. An ORDER from the GOVERNMENT.
• Page 430: Government will decide what level of treatments you may have at end-of-life.
• Page 469: Community-based Home Medical Services: more payoffs for ACORN.
• Page 472: Payments to Community-based organizations: more payoffs for ACORN.
• Page 489: Government will cover marriage and family therapy. Government intervenes in your marriage.
• Page 494: Government will cover mental health services: defining, creating and rationing those services.
A tip of my hat to my friend, Ben Cerruti, for providing this look at the Obamanation called Obamacare. Write, email, fax or call your Senators and your Representative and tell them to vote NO!

Hubzone amendment for our National Defense?

Yesterday a PR announced that Landrieu -Snowe amendment passes Senate.

WASHINGTON, July 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — An amendment filed by United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Chair Mary Landrieu, D-La., and co-sponsored by Ranking Member Olympia J. Snowe, R-Maine, passed the Senate late last night as part of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010. The amendment will place three small business government contracting programs – HUBZone, 8(a) and service-disabled veterans – on an equal playing field when competing for business.

Remember HUBZone for later.

What was it that these two could be teaming up to do?  Would it have  little,  if anything,  to do with our national defense?

Not much of anything really.

What the amendment does do is to give preferred status to three classifications of people over all other classifications of people when it comes to rewarding federal contracts to Small Business, and states it is necessary to make everything “fair”.

Seems the SBA was mistaken in believing “fair” was not giving anyone a preference.

What is HUBZone?

Well according to the GAO it is yet another government program with a systemic problem of  fraud and abuse by its recipients.  In fact back in March, 2009,  lawmakers were speaking about terminating the program for that reason.

GAO found (GAO-09-440) that 19 ineligible firms had received $30 million through the HUBZone program in fiscal 2006 and fiscal 2007 combined. To qualify for the program, firms must be located in an economically distressed region and at least 35 percent of their full-time employees must live within the zone.

For example, an Alabama ground maintenance services company that won $900,000 in HUBZone set-aside contracts in fiscal 2006 and fiscal 2007 listed an address that was in a qualifying area. But a visit revealed that the office — described as Suite 19 — was Trailer 19 in a trailer park, and the occupant had no association with the company. The firm’s two employees, a father and a son, lived about 90 miles from the trailer park, outside the HUBZone.

So, if a reporter should happens upon this story here are a couple of questions they may want to ask the esteemed Senator cosponsors of this amendment.

What changed?  Did all the fraud and abuse suddenly go away?  Why are you adding even more recipients to a waste fraud and abuse free ride?

Women are already capable, veterans with service related disabilities can be as minor as a slight hearing loss.

Are these classifications really at a disadvantage? Some individuals may well be but any, and all?

Seems like a simple free market solution could have saved another waste of taxpayers dollars-lower tax rates for those areas if you want business to come!

HUBZone has been around since 1999, how is that economic development progressing in those areas?  Are those economically underdeveloped areas shrinking as a result of this program, or is all the real shrinking related to the taxpayers wallet?

Media “Lapdog Act” continues with Health Care Reporting!

Obamas poll numbers are actually below what George W. Bush had at the same stage of his presidency.

This is incredible, as the media has done everything they can to promote both the man and his policies since he became the presumptive Democrat nominee last year, something never afforded to Bush by a long shot!

Fortunately we have actual facts reported by others like Brent Bozell, President of the Media Research Center.

Brett knows what media should be doing and what they should not be doing, and when it comes to reporting on most anything involving the liberal agenda you can pretty much take it to the bank that they (the media) will not be doing their job!

Alexandria, VA – Media Research Center President Brent Bozell today called on the media to stop reporting on the American health care system as a “crisis” situation.  The facts simply belie the claim.

A poll conducted by the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Zogby International (http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.cfm?ID=1722) finds that 84 percent of Americans, including 46 percent of Americans without health care insurance, are “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the health care they currently receive.

Released on Wednesday, the poll was glaringly absent from most news reports late last week and over the weekend.

MRC President Brent Bozell:

“The media need to stop acting like arsonists when it comes to their reporting on the U.S. health care system, starting a fire and then suggesting to put it out the government takeover of 1/5th of our economy.

“There is no health care crisis.  The American people are overwhelmingly satisfied with the health care they currently receive.  The media should report this instead of helping incite for the socialist solution – the government making our most vital life and death health decisions.

“The real crisis here is the crisis of confidence that the American people have in the media.  The press need to stop creating calamities where there are none, and instead do what they are charged with doing – reporting the facts.”

Stalkers, and Stars Align with Mythology

I love it when someone of the liberal ilk calls in to one of the talk radio shows and pretends to be all so knowledgeable and learned compared to the unwashed masses of ignorant right wingers.  Today I listened as some arogant man, I have heard plenty of times, call in to Sean Hannity who is known as “Mike The Stalker”.

You could just hear the discust and disdain dripping like drool from a rabid canine as he describe the tea party movement participants as ignorant “Teabaggers” over and over with each successive reference seemingly so unpalpable to him that one actually expected the unmistakeable sound of a wretching vomit to follow.

This is how it goes with the vast majority of these libs–They always have a name to call us, always are condescending, sarcastic, and have an irrational belief that they alone are capable of discerning the truth, which means in essence believing in the same ideology as them is smart, and everything else is dumber than dirt.

Mark Levin probably knows more about the Constitution in his little toenail than “Mike the Stalker’ ever will. The list of people advocating the conservative thought is filled with some very impressive people holding some very impressive academic credentials, and most of my favorites hold Phd’s.

Michelle Malkin is a big thorn to the libs tender sides also.  She links to great articles constantly.  I have come to the conclusion that she is of another world because she can put out so much information, so fast, from so many resources and link to it all, and reference what it all says and means, while still being a wife and mother.

One of those links she provided in the last few days  Health Care Mythology by Clifford S. Asness, Ph.D.was an invaluable read as a lead up to Obama’s failed presser today, and the author has a great name for his blog, Stumbling on Truth.

What I witnessed today was Obama stumbling all over his lies and promoting an unworkable solution for our future.

He had no real answer for the rush, which he, and everyone else already knew. Basically the “stars were aligned” to make it happen. He would not admit the costs, the sacrifices he is expecting us all to make, or the likeliness of the inevitable results of this change to our health care from a mostly private to an all government run system, and he lied poorly while trying to perpetuate the myths regarding health care.

Mike the Stalker probably thought he was brilliant today.

Me, being a mere “Teabagger”, an ignoramus, in Mike’s worldview, saw a man bound and determined to punish success in this country, and saw that the stars were aligned to do so with another crisis manufactured to do just that!
